Elements of Photography
Depth of FieldThe depth of field, is the extent in which an image's background is "relatively" sharp. Here the f-stop (aperture) is vital, since the higher you set the f-stop the more deeply the picture will be focused and vice versa.
|
Shutter SpeedThe shutter speed is the rate in which the camera can capture an image. This element of your camera is dependent on the min f-stop of your lens and the amount of light available.

LightingSimon Blundell once said that if he had to choose one single lecture, it would be lecture on lighting. Light is truly everything to the photographer, since without it we would not achieve an image. The manipulation of light is single handedly the most important achievement of the photographer. Controlled lighting will give dimension and depth to a picture.

Rule of ThirdsDSLR cameras usually have a setting to turn on this grid. Rule of thirds is a general guideline in the placement of a subject. A 3x3 grid is made and important elements should be put on the intersection points. This will make your picture for dynamic and visually interesting.
