Wells Fargo Center
The Wells Fargo Center was built in 1998 and is currently the tallest skyscraper in Utah. The building was originally built as the headquarters for the American Stores Company. Later it was bought by Albertsons and became known as the Delta Tower. After Albertsons decided to move their headquarters, it was bought by Wasatch Property Management and was renamed to the Wells Fargo Center.
Today, Wells Fargo occupies many floors of the building and is also occupied by many of Utah's high powered premiere law firms. The popular Gallivan Center is across the road from the Wells Fargo Center. Both locations are easily accessible by Trax. |
ArchitectureThe building design was envisioned by HKS architects. HKS is the biggest architect firm in the U.S., known for designing buildings such as the Dallas Cowboys stadium and The Palazzo luxury hotel in Las Vegas.
The architecture of the Wells Fargo building is postmodern and includes two helipads on the roof. The main materials used to build the building were glass, Cold Springs salt, and pepper granite. These building characteristics give the building a powerful look for architecture photography. The glass bridge on the east side of the Wells Fargo Center is illuminated by lights during the evening. Nearby Downtown AttractionsThe Gallivan Center is on the northern boarder of the Wells Fargo building. This location is an outdoor venue for music and other events and also has an ice skating rink open during the winter. During the holiday season, the venue surrounding the rink is wrapped with lights and provides an ideal location for photographs of couples.

PortraitThe Wells Fargo Center is very modern and sleek. The lighted bridge at night, offering a small view of downtown Salt Lake as a backdrop, can be a great place for couples to take pictures as the lighting at night on the bridge is stunning.
While inside the building it is more suited to business style photographs. The massive staircases and statues within the building offer great angles for those looking for a professional/business style shot. Another type of photography that is good here is car photography. While car photography is niche, it is becoming more popular. Parking under the lighted bridge, and in the shadow of the building, incorporates the architecture of the building nicely as well as provides great lighting on the car for some great evening photos. |
